We want to welcome our new Minister Grant Carey
Cottontown Church of Christ is a small, unified congregation of New Testament Christians who strive to accomplish God's will and want to share with others the joy they have found in Christ. We hope you will like what you learn about our congregation and about God's word on this site. If you live in this area, come join us. We are interested in growing spiritually and helping you to do the same.
If you're traveling, we are just a short distance off I-65, Exit 112. Just head east on Tennessee Highway 25, and in about ten minutes you will find a vintage white church building, right at the edge of the road. We hope you'll come and be a part of our worship, Bible study, and all that we do at Cottontown. We believe you'll find us friendly, and you can be assured that we'll teach and preach the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, speaking where the Bible speaks and being silent where the Bible is silent.
Services are scheduled as follows: Sunday morning Bible study, 10 am; Sunday morning worship, 11 am; Sunday evening worship, 6 pm. We currently do not meet on Wednesday.
Something you will experience in every one of our worship services is singing. All of our music is a capella, just as the New Testament directs and approves.
Prayer is a major avenue of our communication to God; so, as one man prays aloud, the rest of us silently join him in supplication and praise. We believe this is a decent and orderly thing to do and in accordance with God's word.
Giving is an important part of our worship though not at every worship service. God has designated Sunday as the giving-of-means time for his people; therefore, we do not take collections at any other times. Additionally, we do not use other means, e.g., bake sales or yard sales, to get money for the treasury. Freewill offerings according to New Testament teaching are our only means of getting money for church use.
Communion is the most important part of our worship each Sunday. Jesus instituted His supper with His apostles the night before He went to His crucifixion. Christian observe this institution each and every Sunday as Jesus commanded and gave example. We eat unleavened bread (representing His body) and drink the fruit of the vine (representing His blood).
Preaching takes place during our worship services on Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Different Bible topics are presented to help us live our lives more pleasingly before God and our fellowman. The Bible is strictly adhered to during each message.
We love to study the Bible, so we devote an hour of study together each Sunday morning (10 am) for Bible Study and (11am) for worship, we are currently not meeting on Wednesday evening. Since we also love to sing, we devote the hour to singing each first Wednesday of each month
